Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna visited the under-construction Medical College, Rudrapur.

Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna  visited the under-construction  Medical College, Rudrapur to inspect the pace  and quality of the work  and received information from officers in respect to the  medical College on Saturday.
 During the inspection, the Chief Minister instructed officials and the executing agencies of the institution that the work on medical College building should be completed quickly and asked the    officers to make a detailed report regarding the construction works and send to the state government.
The executing agency, Uttar Pradesh Water Corporation Construction Branch General Manager Sanjay Kumar informed the Chief Minister about the progress made so far in the project, while, Mr Bahuguna made many inquiries about important issues in this respect.
Project Manager PK Gupta,  informed Mr Bahuguna that the then Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari had laid the foundation of the Rudrapur Medical College in 2005.
The total estimated cost of the Medical College is Rs 300 crore.  However, so far only an amount of Rs 22 crore has been released. Against the sum of Rs 4131.60 lakh needed for completion of the first phase, only the amount of Rs 2291 lakh was obtained.
With the funds received, the agency was getting the construction work done on Ward Block, OT Block, OPD, TB and Leprosy departments among others. The sum of Rs 18.60 lakh was yet to be released for completion of the remaining projects in the first phase.
In the second phase, Administrative Building, Academic Building, Trauma Centre, auditorium, hostel and residential buildings will be constructed. A proposal for Rs 250 crore needed for completion of second phase had already been sent to the government, which was under consideration.
Former Health Minister Tilak Raj Behad had met Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna last week and urged him to release the funds needed for timely completion of the project.
Those present at the time of inspection included District Magistrate Brijesh Sant, SSP Pushpak Jyoti, CMO Y C Sharma, Manish Chhabda,  Kailash Agarwal, Himanshu Gaba, Assistant Project Manager Water Corporation  RK Garg and Architect Ranjan Shukla in addition to the large number of prominent citizens.
