Following is the text of the statement made by the Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Dr. C.P.Joshi on the news report published in the Indian Express dated 3rd April, 2012:- My attention has been drawn to the news report in the Indian Express dated April, 03, 2012. I have got the facts ascertained. A letter from Department of Economic Affairs enclosing World Bank findings with regard to two contractors M/s Progressive Construction Ltd. (PCL) and M/s Progressive Construction Ltd (PCL)-M/s MVR JV in Lucknow-Muzaffarpur National Highway Project was received a few days back in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The report relates to the period 2005-2008. This has been sent to the NHAI for ascertaining facts in the matter after which appropriate action will be taken. The World Bank has strict confidentiality requirements. As soon as facts are ascertained, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways would send a report about the facts as well as the action taken to the Department of Economic Affairs as desired by them.” |
