20 Probationer Nurses Commissioned Into Military Nursing Service

Commissioning ceremony of the 53rd batch of probationer nurses, School of Nursing was held at the Base Hospital here today. 

Lt Gen KK Singh, Commandant, Army Hospital (R&R) was the chief guest for the ceremony. Commissioning ceremony was done by Lt Gen KK Singh, Commandant, Army Hospital (R&R) and Maj Gen PP Varma, Dy Commandant, Army Hospital (R&R). The ceremony was also graced by Maj Gen JK Grewal, Addl Director General, MNS. 

During the ceremony 20 young Probationer Nurses were commissioned as Lieutenants into Military Nursing Service (MNS) and stand posted to various Armed Forces hospitals. Lt Gen KK Singh, in his address, congratulated the newly commissioned Nursing officers and their proud parents. He motivated them to develop positive attitude, empathetic outlook and excellent soft skills along with keeping abreast with latest developments in the field of medicine. “The role of nurse is not limited to the clinical field; it extends beyond the boundaries of the hospital ward in today’s world”, he said. 

Maj Gen JK Grewal, in her address emphasized that the practice of nursing in today's scenario is influenced by modernization and advancement in scientific technology yet none of this can replace the human touch in the nursing. “Nursing demands qualities of intelligence, empathy, compassion, devotion, kindness, politeness, and patience and above all cooperation and good team spirit”, she said. 

Earlier Maj Gen HJ Bullar, Principal Matron, AH (R&R) welcomed the dignitaries. Lt Col Punita Sharma, Principal Tutor delivered the batch report.
