Funds for Heritage Court Buildings

The Government has said that under the Thirteenth Finance Commission Grants, an amount of Rs. 450 crore has been allocated for restoration and conservation of 150 heritage court buildings. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice, said that of this, nearly Rs.122 crore has been released to the State already. 

The financial assistance provided to States/ UTs under Centrally Sponsored Scheme for development of infrastructure facilities for judiciary in 2010-11 was Rs. 142.74 crore. Considering the demands made by the State Governments for improvement in infrastructure of subordinate judiciary, the allocation was enhanced and Rs. 595.54 crore were released to States/ UTs under the Scheme in 2011-12. An allocation of Rs. 660 crore has been made for the current FY 2012-13.
