Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said that serious efforts would be made for the promotion of sports in the state. He said that all possible facilities would be made available for the sports persons.
Chief Minister Bahuguna in his inaugural address of 30th All India Uttarakhand Gold Cup Cricket Tournament at Rangers' Ground on Sunday said that there was no shortage of talented sports persons in the state and given proper guidance and training they could bring laurels for Uttarakhand in national and international levels. Asserting on sportsman spirit, he called on the youths to take up sports. Maintaining that healthy mind resided in healthy body, Mr. Bahuguna said that sports played important role in one's life.
Chief Minister also announced Rs. 5 lakh for Uttarakhand Gold Cup and said that the government would consider bearing all the expenses of the Gold Cup Tournament next year. He said that a sports stadium of international standard would be constructed at Suddhowala which would help Uttarakhand Cricket Association to get affiliation from BCCI.
Chief Minister Bahuguna was introduced to the players of the final match and inaugurated the match by playing a shot. Also present on the occasion were President, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, Hira Singh Bisht, MLA Vijaypal Singh Sajwan, former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, CAU Secretary PC Verma, Kumar Thapa, AS Maingwal, Ravi Pachoria and Dinesh Sharma.
