Commissioner Garhwal Region and Chairman, Char Dham Yatra, Kunal Sharma directed the departmental officers concerned to ensure necessary arrangements in Yatra Routes. He warned that any officers found not carrying out the responsibilities would be given negative remark.
At a meeting held at Camp Office on Friday, the Commissioner instructed the officers of the Transport Department to ensure that all the vehicles on Yatra were thoroughly examined at Rishikesh and allow them only after the report of the Committee. He directed them not to use old buses for Yatra and to ensure strict adherence to fixed time period for buses. He asked them to establish temporary check posts for vehicle checking. Instructing them to take all possible measures to prevent road accidents not only in the Yatra Routes but in other roads too, the Commissioner directed the officers to provide him with the report of magisterial probes of accidents so that further preventive measures could be taken.
Mr. Sharma also directed the officers of PWD and DGBR to give more attention to maintenance of the roads and to construct parapets and install traffic signs on strategic spots. He directed them to give immediate attention tor the construction of roads from Badrinath and Fata to Gourikund. He expected reports of arrangements made by the respective officers on Yatra Routes and directed them to review the work done by them so that the shortcomings could be taken care of in the next Yatra Season.
The Commissioner directed the officers to set up medical assistance centres with availability of oxygen cylinders in them in every 3 km distance in pedestrian routes. He also directed for deputation of additional two doctors at Kedarnath. He instructed all the SDMs on Yatra Routes to remain present at their duty places till completion of Yatra Season. He sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh to DM Uttarkashi, Rs. 20 lakh each to DM Rudraprayag and DM Chamoli, Rs. 6.20 lakh to DM Tehri, Rs. 9.20 lakh to DM Dehradun and Rs. 1.03 lakh to Sulabh International for sanitation arrangements in Yatra Routes.
DIG Sanjay Gunjyal asked the officers to conduct comprehensive checking of the vehicles and give special attention to check overloading.
Regional Tourism Officer Yogendra Gangwar said that till June 11, 306946 pilgrims had visited Gangorti, 305737 had visited Yamunotri, 431785 visited Kedarnath, 636356 visited Badrinath and 71334 pilgrims had visited Hemkund so far.
The meeting was attended by SSP Dehradun Neeru Garg, SP Tehri, SP Pauri, Officer Commanding BRO Amrendra Kumar, Captain Ram, Dr. KL Arya, Chairman TGMO Vijypal Dhanai and other senior departmental officers.
