Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain, observing that there was dearth of paramedical staff in the country and vast potential of employment in this sector, said that State Government was creating employment opportunities for the girls by opening maximum nursing colleges in Uttarakhand. He said that the State Government was even encouraging private nursing colleges in the State.
Chief Secretary was chairing the meeting of Empowered Committee, constituted for establishing the nursing colleges, at Secretariat on Friday. He directed the officers concerned to ensure that norms of All India Nursing Council were fulfilled by the applicants before granting No Objection Certificates to them. He said there ought to be a positive approach for such proposals so that maximum people invest in paramedical sector.
Mr. Jain instructed the officers to ensure that the private organizations proposing to open private Nursing Institute provide guarantee of the completion of total course to the girls taking admission in the Institutes. He said that a performance guarantee could also be taken from the institute and aspects such as land ownership of the concerned institute, its financial condition and seriousness in running the institute examined. He advocated making the process simpler and practical. He said that it ought to be ensured that the investors do not have to face inconvenience in the process. Chief Secretary also instructed the officers to complete the formalities of setting up Regional Institute of Paramedical Science at Government Medical College Haldwani.
The Empowered Committee considered the proposals submitted by Max Hospital Dehradun, Jeevan Rekha School of Nursing Kashipur, Modern Institute of Nursing Rishikesh. Pragati School of Nursing Kashipur, Ganesh Education Research Centre Haridwar, Naina School of Nursing Haldwani and Chandraprakash Pandey Memorial Hospital Khatima. Out of all only Max Hospital, Jeevan Rekha School of Nursing and Modern Institute of Nursing fulfilled the norms. After checking land ownership and 120- Bed Hospital the No Objection Certificate to run nursing Institute would be granted to them. They will run the nursing institute after obtaining affiliation from National Council of Nursing.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Medical & Health Dr. Ranveer Singh, Secretary Medical Education Manisha Panwar, Additional Secretary Kunwar Singh, DG Health and other senior officers.
